Budde's Beach Restaurant, Hikkaduwa

This is our third time coming to Hikkaduwa and again we are at Budde's. Why here? We looked at other places a couple of times and realized that it was optimal here. The main thing is the entrance to the ocean. The bottom topography changes from year to year, we are convinced of this with our own eyes. Two years ago it was impossible to swim here, it was pulled into the ocean, last year the sand washed up and swimming became comfortable, a kind of cove was formed, but this year the spit was washed away and you can swim comfortably only until high tide, then the waves crash like a child. The umbrellas are screwed in such a way that they only cover half of the sun lounger with shade (the sun lounger is not movable). But this is about the beach, now about the restaurant. The Strong beer is already in the can (the taste is not the same), the waiter Lelik (that’s what I call him) became forgetful, instead of fish with sauce he brought shrimp, but they changed it, no big deal, there are no complaints about the dish itself, the portion is large and tasty. And now it’s clear that the waiter is getting old, they don’t want to invest in upgrading their inventory, and only the ocean somehow gathers a contingent from nearby hotels that are deprived of their own sandy beach. Prices for happy hours such as in other restaurants are accepted as the norm, and secondly, prove that you took the drink during this particular period. But I don’t pay it right away. Only after the Russian abuse did they agree to a discount. There is also an interesting feature: when the score runs up, they try to count you out, but I have a reflex, I need to transfer it to another establishment. On the plus side, I can note the presence of a decent toilet (even with toilet paper :-)
